Increased Number of Newly Registered Companies in Hong Kong

Hong Kong has seen a rise in the total number of registered companies.
According to the statistics released by the Companies Registry in Hong Kong, the total number of companies registered in Hong Kong reached 1,372,303 as the end of June, 2017.
A total of 80,533 new companies were registered in the first half of 2017. The number of non-Hong Kong companies registered for business purposes was also larger as branches in Hong Kong are still required to register. They are subject to a lighter taxation regime and only profits derived from the city are subject to taxes, not their worldwide profits.
